Presenting the alluring Electro Folk Rock sounds of "IN THE CINEMA" Fri, 16 Jul 2010 02:57:08 GMT
(48.4 Mb)
In the Cinema brings an artful sound never heard before. Not to mention, their unique music style is nearly impossible to compare with other artists. This sort of quality is what most artists strive to achieve. Many artists accomplish this task, but they do not produce the kind of quality music that people enjoy over and over. Where other artists have failed, the brother duo, Ryan and Joe Hughes have succeeded by doing what others only dream of.
Ryan and Joe have taken the traditional art of folk music, combined it with modern rock and tied it with an electronica sensibility to create, In the Cinema.
Listen to music from their 2010 debut album, For the Struggle. Song included in this episode: "Midday Refuge", "Theatre...and the Instinct", "In Waves", and "Shelter", "The Loop".

Forewalls presented by The Great Unknowns Presents Fri, 23 Apr 2010 14:01:26 GMT
(16.7 Mb)
Pure unadulterated emotion that is infectious and addicting is what comes to mind when describing music by a young four man group from Chino Hills, CA. Forewalls is an alt rock-punk band that has a very marketable sound that is both mainstream and commercial friendly, but they still maintain that fresh sound that is underground yet popular and original.
Their debut untitled album which is still in pre-production currently have four songs that are featured on Facebook and MySpace demonstrate a pop appeal that could compare with Simple Plan, Green Day, The Stills, with a combination of a few 80’s bands like Psychedelic Furs and The Plimsouls.

Von Grey presented by The Great Unknowns Presents, Ep 59 Thu, 15 Apr 2010 15:35:01 GMT
(16.6 Mb)
Von Grey also known as SisterVG, are a fresh young Counrty pop/rock quartette from Alpharetta, GA. Their music spans over several genres including folk pop, a little bit of rock, with the right amount of country and sound a bit like the Dixie Chicks did when they debut back in 1997.
Von Grey’s newest album is currently in preproduction and not all their newest hits have been released, and while some of their recent tracks are cover songs from other artists, they have tons of original music including, “Perfect” Love, “Don’t Tell Me”, and “What’s Your Name”. The soon to be released album is filled with bubbly-pop combination of bluegrass and pop rock that is both enjoyable and fun. The song, “What’s Your Name” reminds me of the Dixie Chicks debut album, Wide Open Spaces when they crossed Country music with pop. Von Grey brings back that captured essence.

[BRËN] presented by The Great Unknowns Presents, Ep 57 Wed, 31 Mar 2010 17:15:12 GMT
(15.5 Mb)
Classified in a category entirely of his own, BRËN’s style of music fits nicely within the musical realm of Alternative Rock, Progressive Rock, and Modern Rock. One may compare BRËN to the likes of 3 Doors Down, Alice in Chains, Shine Down, ill Nino, even Finger Eleven, and Papa Roach.
BRËN brings back that soulful sound of rock that has been slowly disappearing from mainstream radio. It is a real treat to sit back listen to his music.
Songs like "Only Human", "Worth the Weight", and "Epic" are the antidote to the monotonous garbage played on today's radio and the prescription for the endless insanity which is the Los Angeles freeway system.
With BRËN plugged into the stereo and the volume turned all the way up, the windows down, listeners can actually look forward to the long drives on the torturous highways. Read my featured interview with BRËN on Great Unknowns Music Expose

Mika Cole is a natural talent. Her voice is very compelling, sweet, soft, and a voice that deserves mainstream recognition and attention. Her talent is not only restricted to her voice either. She is well diverse in art of piano, guitar, violin, flute, congas, and she writes her own music and lyrics. Mika's seductive voice resembles closely with the big voice of Toni Braxton and Christina Aguilera.
From a long line of singers, songwriters, and talented musicians, it was inevitable that Mika Cole would eventually discover her place in the world of music. As a child she learned several musical instruments, including her preferred instrument, the acoustic guitar.

Al Goodwin presented by The Great Unknowns Presents, Ep 55 Wed, 24 Mar 2010 17:19:17 GMT
(12.1 Mb)
From London, London is Al Goodwin. He’s not a flashy pop star with layers of noise that we call "music" by today’s popular standards, nor does he resemble the modern rock star. Instead, Al Goodwin brings a fresh sound that is "back to basics". His presentation of music delivers a mixture of 70's acoustic, early 90's folk, and modern pop that places along the likes of Neil Young, Crowded House, Crosby Still, & Nash, and Five Times August.
Recently released, The Stone that Brought the Girlis Goodwin's newest 4-track EP and the 12-track debut EP, entitled, Celebrate . Both albums are filled with raw truth of Goodwin's personal life translated into song. “The Stone that Brought the Girl” is an up tempo track, but the lyrics tells a different story. A story about a dilemma which involved two stones and these stones were a cross road that would later be a life changing revelation that would ultimately change the coarse of his future. "Human Touch" is about simply being a dad without being too gaga and having to face the responsibilities we have in this world. "Lucky Stars" is just me lookin...
